Over the last few years, I’ve become aware of something I’d not seen before—the news does not necessarily equal the truth. And when the truth is hidden, how can parents make the best decisions for their families and children? We can’t.
If this is news to you, please join me as I share a few key points that I’ve learned. I hope they will help you arrive closer to the truth.
Trust in the News
My husband chuckled at how naïve I was, but before COVID-19 hit, I assumed we could trust the news. I thought the news provided honest reports to help us understand the world. Aren’t journalists supposed to be accurate and fair and truthful? I also assumed that propaganda, which sounds so old-school conspiratorial, was isolated to countries with authoritarian regimes, surely not something to worry about here in the United States. (More chuckles from my husband.)
But what I’ve learned in the last 4 years is that if we want to find the truth, at least get as close to the truth as possible, we cannot rely on certain news and media sources, especially for particular topics. I’m not sure how long these media entities have been at it—maybe since Operation Mockingbird in the 1950s—but they’re the ones who craft stories to their liking and conveniently cherry pick reality. Their preferred narratives always win over the truth, and it’s us, the public, who loses. When the truth is obscured, even in the name of a so-called noble lie deemed essential by someone in power, it is our children and families who lose.
Mainstream Media and Favored Narratives
Mainstream media, corporate media, legacy media—whatever term you’ve heard, my understanding is that it’s one and the same. We’re talking about the large media institutions like the Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Guardian, CNN, ABC, FOX, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, and NPR. Take a look at their ads, owners, and political ties, and you’ll see that they’re largely funded and controlled by pharmaceutical and defense companies, finance giants, and American left-leaning politics.
Once you see the connections, then the chosen narratives and misleading messages all fall in place. As an example, is it little wonder that the mainstream media does the following:
Avoids mentioning COVID-19 vaccine injuries—despite the alarming number of injuries reported to VAERS and the ongoing evidence in published journal articles.
Paints the picture that Putin aims to march across Europe like Hitler—even though Putin was ready to go forward with a 2022 peace agreement with Ukraine until the U.S./NATO had Boris Johnson intercede.
Implies that Trump is a threat to our democracy and existence—last time I checked, it was the current U.S. administration that was censoring free speech, mandating an experimental medical intervention, and pushing us closer to a nuclear WWIII with Russia. (For what it’s worth, this comes from someone who was raised to vote Democrat, cried when Trump won the 2016 election, and voted for Biden in the 2020 election.)
In the book Lies My Government Told Me, author Robert Malone, a vaccinologist and inventor of the original mRNA vaccine technology, details the use of the mainstream media to drive narratives and shape reality. Malone himself, speaking out about the mechanistic safety issues with mRNA vaccines—and who might know better than him—was censored and cancelled for countering the COVID-19 narrative. In his book, Malone quotes Caitlin Johnstone, an independent journalist who pinpoints the power of manipulation when she writes, “Whoever controls the narrative controls the world.”
I’m not saying that mainstream media is entirely untruthful. I don’t think they are. But parents need to know about the forces behind these media organizations and who’s holding the purse strings. This matters, because now or someday, we may be confronted with more inadequately tested vaccines, the loss of free speech, or a future nuclear war.
Social Media, Censorship, and Propaganda
There is ample evidence that the U.S. government has partnered with social media platforms to push its propaganda and censor voices. Journalists at Public, a Substack founded by Michael Shellenberger, reported in 2023 about an extensive network involving the government and other groups “that work together to urge censorship by social media platforms and spread propaganda about disfavored individuals, topics, and whole narratives.”
Confirming all prior evidence, in a recent letter dated August 26, 2024, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg explained how the Biden administration called for his company to censor unfavorable COVID-19 information (even when it was true) as well as “Russian disinformation” about the Biden family’s questionable Ukraine ties (which turned out to be true). Zuckerberg wrote,
“In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree…In a separate situation, the FBI warned us about a potential Russian disinformation operation about the Biden family and Burisma in the lead up to the 2020 election. That fall, when we saw a New York Post story reporting on corruption allegations involving then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s family, we sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while waiting for a reply. It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story.”
Unfortunately, censorship is still happening on most social media platforms today, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. To my knowledge, platforms that currently protect free speech are X, Rumble, and Substack—this is where you’ll get closer to the truth.
Solutions
Ideally, we’d get our information directly from a primary source instead of having someone else interpret it for us. We’d listen to the full interview, watch the video, review the research data, or read the unedited transcript or court document or package insert. Thanks to the internet, people can do this. But it can be hard to keep up, or know where to go for primary sources, or even realize what information might affect our families. So, the next best thing is to find trusted independent media figures who can connect you to the primary sources and help interpret them for you.
Fortunately, there has been a rise in independent media sources committed to finding and reporting the truth. Some are journalists who left jobs with mainstream media to step out on their own, untethered to report freely, including Alex Berenson, Matt Taibi, Barri Weiss, Glenn Greenwald, Catherine Herridge, and Sharyl Attkisson.
Countless others report directly from national or global events (e.g., Julio Rosas, Michael Yon), contribute their expertise (e.g., Bret Weinstein, Vinay Prasad, Peter McCullough, Jay Bhattacharya, Mike Benz), or provide an interview platform (e.g., Shawn Ryan, Del Bigtree, Tucker Carlson, Kim Iversen).
Parents don’t have time for media outlets that lie to them or purposefully omit information for the sake of a narrative or noble lie. We need to be able to base decisions for ourselves and our families on the truth. We need news sources that seek and report the truth.
I’m sure there are more reputable independent media sources that I didn’t include. If you have any that you trust, please add them to the comments section below to share with other readers—thank you.
great timing! check out globalist John Kerry lament decentralization of information. banal appeal to "democracy" by which he means authoritarian institutions and not the people
